Ey hai Election Time.. again..

Folks! its "The Election time" in India, but I would like to extend the phrase a bit "The Election time Again"..You may think why this word "Again" is made so significant. In reality its because the number of times we have this "Election" taking place in our country. Regional Election, Panchayat board Election and National Election to name a few. The schools, colleges and Offices are also not spared as they have their own internal elections. I would often think: For God sake! How many elections we have!..

Well, here are the facts about our National Elections..
1. India spends more amount of money for elections, this we all know but more than US presidential election, kindly note here i am converting the rupees to dollars, still the former is greater.
2. On an estimation people who are less educated contest for elections from most of the places around the country.
3. Most people vote for The leaders or i would call them aptly as the faces of the party and not the MLA's or MP's, the pathetic state is one doesn't know who is the MLA or MP of their constituency.
4. The number of people voting would be the highest ever in the country's history.

These are just the main ones that I can think of, but in the eyes of a statistician there would be fairly large number of points in addition to these.

Ideally a person should be elected on the basis of his credentials. These credentials has to be earned by public service over a period of time, by listening and solving the needs of the people. By doing this, the person would become recognizable in a group. In aftermath, When he contests in an election, people, on the basis of his good deeds, would accept him as their representative to the higher level. You would now be thinking what the hell, who is doing these things nowadays.

We Indians have got used to shortcuts, in fact lot of shortcuts, shortcuts in keyboards, shortcuts in math, shortcut in roads. Well shortcuts can save time, but its a fact that while using the shortcuts we loose the main crux of the deed most of the time. For instance, we use shortcut in math to get the results faster and now we get the result correctly but while relating to real time situation, for which these problems are meant for, seems spooky. The shortcut in our context is used by our so called leaders, who get introduced to people by means of mass media, then they acclaim stardom and then contest for elections, instead the right way is the other way-round. Due to this reason our leaders are people who are mostly movie actors, rowdies and religious leaders.

The need of the hour is a leader who is charismatic, who could take the country forward for some years to come. I would say a leader like Nehru in Indian context after independence. I have not heard of a single leader as charismatic as Nehru was and mainly a leader who could see "India as a whole". This is significant for a prime ministerial candidate as a candidate from a regional party is not adept to view the problems with National perspective. There are many divides in our country as the region, caste, religious cause which will hinder the true national leader to evolve. But for the betterment of the country this has to happen in reality.

The quest for the National leader has started. But, the strange thing in human history is that, the emergence of leadership happens only when we are in crisis situation. This has always happened, sometimes this fact seems strange. Martin Luther king Jr. from the crisis of discrimination, Nehru and Gandhi from Indian Independence, Hitler from destroyed Germany,  United states turning to Obama to help them out of recession to name a few. This crisis has not hit India till now, so will that mean we have to wait for the leader till the crisis strikes us? Or can we make history in bring out the leader without a crisis? ..... ??
